Picture Book Competition Biblioteca Gran Canaria 2020: Recently organised by the Biblioteca Insular de Gran Canaria, the competition welcomes picture books from illustrators and writers from around the world which demonstrate narrative and visual originality.

Short description

This competition for a picture book is organised by the Biblioteca Insular de Gran Canaria and welcomes works from writers and illustrators worldwide.

The competition welcomes Picture Books which demonstrate narrative and visual originality. The term “Picture Books” includes works where the story is developed through text and images, or exclusively images.

Submission guidelines:

Entrants must present two double-spaced copies of the written text and one color photocopy of three finished illustrations. They must also include a mock-up of the complete work showing how these illustrations and the text will be laid out as well as the layout of any other illustrations which should, at the very least, be sketched out.

The maximum length for entries is 36 pages (18 double pages) excluding covers, fly leaves and copyright page. The format is open and suggestions for unusual bindings will be considered provided the publishers ABP can comply. Submissions must be written in Spanish.

Works must be previously unpublished and must not be entered in any other competition at the same time.

There is no entry fee to participate!

Who may enter?

Open worldwide to writers and illustrators 18 years or over.

Prize:

The winner will receive 11,000 EUR, of which 2,000€ will constitute an advance of royalties.
