Royal Entomological Society 2025 Insect Photography Competition : Royal Entomological Society 2025 Insect Photography Competition has been recently organised by Royal Entomological Society (RES), a UK-based society devoted to the study of insects that invites both amateur and professional photographers of all ages and nationalities to submit they best three insect photos.

Short description

Royal Entomological Society 2025 Insect Photography Competition has been recently organised by Royal Entomological Society (RES), a UK-based society devoted to the study of insects and invites both amateur and professional photographers of all ages and nationalities to sumbit they best insect photos.

This competition encourages participants to explore and capture the fascinating world of insects through photography.

You are invited to enter your best three insect photos.

Photographs submitted to the competition should portray insects in their natural environment.

Photographs entered for the Competition should feature an insect (or group of insects) occurring naturally in the situation in which it is photographed. The subject can be of any life-stage, from egg through nymph, larva or pupa to adult, and can be an insect from anywhere in the world.

Prize winning and runner-up photographs will be published in an online gallery on the Insect Week website and in Antenna, the RES bulletin later in 2026.

Submission requirements:

➜ Photographs must be submitted as jpg, jpeg or png files.
➜ Image entry file sizes must not exceed 10MB. The RES recommends that entrants choose to submit a file that is the largest possible within that limit.
➜ Black and white images are eligible for submission.
➜ Digital adjustments that maintain the integrity of the image are allowed. It is not permitted to make any major physical change to the image. Entrants may not, for example, add or remove plants, objects, animals, people, landscapes or any parts of animals, plants, people or landscape to their image.
