The Aftermath Project 2026 – Post-Conflict Photography Grant

The Aftermath Project 2026 – Post-Conflict Photography Grant is now open for entries!

The Aftermath Project 2026, now open for applications, invites photographers worldwide to submit documentary photography proposals exploring the lasting impact of conflict, recovery and the rebuilding of communities.

Short description

The Aftermath Project 2026 Post-Conflict Grant is an international photography funding opportunity supporting visual storytelling about the lasting consequences of conflict and the challenges of rebuilding lives, communities and societies.

Established to encourage a deeper understanding of what happens after conflict, The Aftermath Project supports photographers whose work explores recovery, reconciliation, displacement, collective memory and the enduring effects of violence.

The grant invites proposals that document the aftermath of different forms of conflict, including international wars, regional violence and conflicts within communities. Projects should examine the human and social consequences of these events, particularly stories that have received limited media attention.

Although the programme generally focuses on situations where conflict has ended, proposals addressing the continuing aftermath of prolonged or ongoing conflicts may also be considered.

The 2026 Post-Conflict Grant supports the production of a still photography project rather than exhibitions, publications or video production. Applicants may propose a new project or expand work already underway.

The selected photographer will receive a $25,000 production grant, while four additional photographers will be recognized as finalists.

The winner and finalists are expected to be announced by the end of December 2026.
