OSTEN Skopje is calling for applications to its Biennial of Contemporary Visual Arts Skopje 2026, challenging artists to push conventional boundaries, both in terms of the use of techniques, tools, and media, and in creative freedom of expression.

OSTEN Skopje , a recognizable brand in the area of art, is calling for applications to its Biennial of Contemporary Visual Arts Skopje 2026.
The Biennial challenges artists to push conventional boundaries, both in terms of the use of techniques, tools, and media, and in creative freedom of expression. So you can feel free to submit your most innovative and creative works, regardless of form, technique, or medium.
Entry is open to works from all parts of the world, completed between 2024 and 2026.
The following types of work are welcome:
➜ Art on paper (drawing, print, and mixed media)
➜ 2D and 3D art (painting, objects, installations, textile art)
➜ Photography, video art, multimedia art
The OSTEN Biennial is an event open to everything that is new and is much more comprehensive than the traditional one, giving priority to works that break the old and worn-out art matrices, works that have a specific artist’s mark or hint at an attempt for stepping outside the established academic rules, into the free space of creation.
Multiple awards by the Assembly of Ambassadors of OSTEN, the International Jury, the OSTEN Board and WAVA (World Association of Visual Arts) awards will be endowed in September 2026.
Submission requirements:
➜ On the back of each work should be written: Name and surname of the artist, the title of the work, year of creation, technique/medium, size of the work (H x W x L) - according to the online application form
➜ The works should be sent unframed and properly packed according to their dimensions: in cardboard packaging with reinforced protection for the corners (for smaller sizes), in a tube (for larger sizes), or in wooden boxes (for objects and installations)
➜ Artists participating in the official Biennial exhibition with installations must personally set up and dismantle their works.
Who may enter?
Entry is open to works from all parts of the world, completed between 2024 and 2026. Participation is possible either individually or in a group of up to 7 artists.
Prize:
This year, OSTEN Skopje will award different prizes. The 3 first award will recieve a money prize of 1000 $/each.
Entry fees:
The participation fee is 65 Euro for individual and 130 Euro for group entries.
