The 16th Animage – International Animation Festival of Pernambuco now is accepting submissions for 2026 and like every year invites entries by filmmakers from around the world.

Animage - 16th International Animation Festival of Pernambuco is accepting submissions for 2026 and invites entries by filmmakers from around the world.
The Animage Festival reaffirms its stance of understanding the animation as cultural art more than as commercial industry. The festival privileges risk, boldness, ideas, reinvention and the use of digital or crafty tools as a support for the development of critical imagination and exercise of creative freedom. It is produced by Rec-Beat Productions, sponsored by Caixa Cultural Recife, incentive by Funcultura – Government of the State of Pernambuco and support from Joaquim Nabuco Foundation, Consulate of France and Institut Français.
Animage 2024’s competitive screenings categories include:
➜ Short film – Films lasting up to 30 minutes
➜ Children’s Short Film – Films for children audience lasting up to 30 minutes
➜ Student Short Film – Films with a running time of up to 30 minutes (including credits) made by students and schools
➜ Feature Film – Films with a running time of more than 41 minutes (including credits)
The awards will be given by an official jury, comprising three individuals invited by the festival organization, amongst film critics and film industry professionals.
The event for 2026 will take place in the city of Recife, Brazil between 20th and 29th November 2026. The Festival includes Competitive and Non-competitive Screenings of national and international animation films, in addition to special sessions, feature films, masterclass, exhibition and animation workshops for both beginners, children and professionals.
Submission requirements
➜ Taking into account that internet access is limited in some countries, it is allowed in this case to send the film(s) by mail in HD format (1920x1080) or better, using the extension .MOV and codec H264), on portable storage units (USB flash drive, external hard drive, among others) or DVD (in data format).
➜ The selected film files MUST NOT HAVE subtitles printed on vídeo.
➜ Each participant can enroll as many works as wanted.
Eligibility
The Animage 2026 – International Animation Festival of Pernambuco is open to filmmakers from around the world.
Prize
The best Feature, Short, Children’s Short and Brazilian short film will each be awarded with R$8,000.
Entry fees
The competition is free to enter.
