World Habitat Awards 2027 is now open for entries!

World Habitat Awards 2027, international architecture competition organised in collaboration with UN-Habitat, has been recently opened for entries looking for the world’s best housing solutions and invites all individuals, organisations or governments who have addressed housing challenges to participate.

Short description

World Habitat, in collaboration with UN-Habitat, is looking for the world’s best housing solutions through the 2027 World Habitat Awards competition.

The World Habitat Awards competition has been run by World Habitat in partnership with UN-Habitat since 1986. For 40 years the World Habitat Awards have celebrated, championed, and helped communities develop new innovations, ideas and advances that improve the lives of people on low incomes.

The Awards recognizes and highlights innovative, outstanding and sometimes revolutionary housing ideas, projects and programs from across the world.

Eligible for entry are projects from around the world that focus on affordable and adequate housing, that are in progress or have been completed in the last ten years and project that have been designed and/or delivered in close collaboration with the residents/local community. Those that are at design stage only or in the very early stages of development will not be considered.

Housing projects and approaches are sought that:

➜ Focus on affordable and adequate housing;
➜ Have taken action to address the climate emergency;
➜ Are currently in progress or were completed within the last ten years;
➜ Actively promote diversity, equality and inclusion; and
➜ Have been designed and/or delivered in close collaboration with residents and the local community.

You can enter more than one project or programme. Entries can be submitted now in English, Spanish or French.

All entries are assessed and up to 40 projects will be shortlisted by an assessment committee. These shortlisted projects will be then evaluated by an independent advisory group.

Who may enter?

The Awards are open to all individuals, organisations or governments who have addressed housing challenges.

Prize:

The organizers will be presenting Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards to the most outstanding projects and programmes.

Each Gold Award-winning project receives:

£10,000 in prize money;
➜ A trophy in recognition of their work to develop and deliver good practice in housing;
➜ An in-person trophy presentation event at an international housing event;
➜ An online celebration event and announcement amplifying their work;
➜ Year-long collaboration support from World Habitat, including financial resourcing;
➜ Membership of the World Habitat Awards Network.

Each Silver and Bronze Award-winning project receives:

➜ Year-long collaboration support from World Habitat, including financial resourcing;
➜ An online celebration event and announcement amplifying their work;
➜ Membership of the World Habitat Awards Network.

Entry fees:

There is no entry fee to participate!
