Artists Network recently has announced its premier watercolor art competition, now in its 28th edition, Splash 28: The Best of Watercolor, inviting all watercolor artist worldwide to participate.

Artists Network recently has announced its premier watercolor art competition, now in its 28th edition, Splash 28: The Best of Watercolor. This is a great opportunity to earn recognition and awards for your work.
The Splash series has been celebrating the incredible work being done by contemporary artists working in watermedia since 1991.
Don’t miss the chance to become one of this year’s 100+ finalists selected for publication. This is THE watercolor event of the year.
The dominant medium must be watercolor, though some minor use of other media may be acceptable. Similar water-based media such as gouache, casein or egg tempera are acceptable as the dominant medium if used on paper. Please note, acrylic paints, while water-based, are NOT acceptable as the dominant medium. You must specify any other media used in addition to watercolor in your application.
All eligible entries will be judged in two rounds using the following criteria:

➜ Handling of medium
➜ Design and creative elements
➜ Overall impression/impact
Results is expected to be announced on January 2027.
Eligibility
Open to artists across the globe. Entrants must be at least 18 years of age or older and of the age of majority in their jurisdiction of residence.
Benefits
In addition to monetary awards ($3,500 in total), the top three prize winners will have their winning entries plus an in-depth artist’s profile published in The Best of Watercolor (Summer 2027), a special publication presented by the editors of Artists Magazine and Watercolor Artist.
All award winners will also receive a free Artists Network Membership for 1-year ($99.99 value), and a digital award-winner badge.
Entry fees
During the Early Bird (until 11 August 2026) entry fee is $15 for Artists Network Members and $2 for Non-Members. After that period ends entry fee will increase.
