The 28th Annual Pastel 100 Art Competition, has been recently opened for entries organized by Pastel Journal invites all artists worldwide to submit they works made with a soft pastel.
Short description
The 28th Annual Pastel 100 art competition, annual international art competition now is calling for entries! Organized by the the Pastel Journal magazine, America’s leading magazine devoted to pastel artists, invites all artists worldwide to submit they works made with a soft pastel.
Entries can be submitted in the following categories:
➜ Animal + Wildlife — Any animal in any setting
➜ Abstract + Non-Objective — Judged on the artist’s use of design, texture, media, lighting and special techniques
➜ Landscape + Interior — Any landscape, from city scenes to imaginary horizons
➜ Portrait + Figure — Individual or group portrait and figure entries
➜ Still Life + Floralv — Judged on overall design, unique arrangement of subject matter, handling of medium, lighting and mood
Work must be at least 80% soft pastel; no oil pastel. Nupastels and other “harder” pastels are considered soft pastels.
All works must be original. Work previously published in a national art publication or receiving an award at a national-level exhibition at the time of submission to this contest is not eligible.
Judges will award a total of one hundred (100) prizes. Twenty-five (25) category prizes will be awarded – to the first five winning works in each of the five competition categories.
In addition to the multiple top cash prizes, all top prize winners and place winners will be featured in the Spring 2027 issue of the Pastel Journal magazine.
Winners will be notified by late November 2026.
Eligibility
This competition is open to artists from any part of the world, older than 16.

Entry fees
Super Early-bird entries cost $15 per image and can be submitted until 10th April 2026. There is a All early-bird entries that start at $25 per image until 10th June 2026. The regular entry fee is $30 per image.
