2027 Peter Porter Poetry Prize is now open for entries!
The 2027 Peter Porter Poetry Prize, one of Australia’s most lucrative and respected poetry awards organized by the Australian Book Review, has been recently opened for entries accepting submissions from all poets writing in English.

Australian Book Review is delighted to announce that entries to the 2027 Peter Porter Poetry Prize are now open.
Now in its twenty-third year, the Porter Prize is one of Australia’s most lucrative and respected poetry awards. It honours the life and work of the great Australian poet Peter Porter (1929–2010), an honoured contributor to ABR for many years.
Poets are invited to submit original poems written in English, up to 60 lines in length. Poems can be on any subject and in any style.
Poems must not have been previously published.
Entries must be submitted online via the ABR website. It does not permit the use of generative AI tools in the production of writing, images, or other content published within the magazine or on its digital platforms.
The prize will be judged by Mindy Gill, Nam Le, and Felicity Plunkett. The shortlisted poems will appear in the January-February 2027 issue.
Eligibility
All poets writing in English are eligible to enter. There is no age limit.
Benefits
The winner will receive AU$6,000. The other four shortlisted poets will each receive AU$1,000.
Entry fees
Each entry must be accompanied by an entry fee of AU$30, or AU$20 for current ABR subscribers.
