Concrete In Life 2023 Photography Competition: GCCA’s 5th annual Concrete in Life photography competition has been recently opend for entries, open to amateur and professional photographers around the world, willing to inspire to celebrate the vital role that concrete plays in our world.

Short description

The Concrete In Life 2023 Global Photography Competition, organised by the Global Cement and Concrete Association, now is open for entries in its 5th dition. As one of the most widely used human-made products on the planet, concrete is all around us: in our houses and offices; our roads and pavements; in the bridges that connect us; the wind farms that provide us with energy; and the sea barriers that protect us. As the sustainable building material of choice, it provides safe, durable and resilient structures as well as providing the basis for renewable energy infrastructure. The competition provides a unique opportunity for both amateur and professional photographers to showcase their talent and creativity by highlighting concrete’s diverse applications.

Whether it’s the sleek lines of an urban skyscraper, the intricate beauty of a concrete sculpture, or the rugged resilience of a rural infrastructure project, Concrete in Life 2023 invites participants to capture the essence of this essential material in their own unique way.

This event fosters a global community of photographers and enthusiasts who share a passion for discovering the artistry, innovation, and human interaction inherent in concrete.

Organiser invites participants to celebrate the vital role that concrete plays in our world – its beauty, versatility, strength, durability, and sustainability.

The competition has four categories:

➜ Urban design and use - images of the city landscapes and buildings around us, both well-known and hidden away
➜ Concrete infrastructure - photographs of our infrastructure, in our cities and rural, above and below ground.
➜ Concrete in daily life - the human side of concrete and how it’s used and interacted with daily.
➜ Beauty and design - showcasing beautiful uses concrete in the world around us – such as stunningly designed buildings, sculptures or landmarks.

Concrete in Life 2023 Photography Competition is not just a showcase of artistic expression but also a platform for raising awareness about the crucial role concrete plays in our daily existence. Through the power of photography, this competition seeks to inspire a deeper appreciation for this ubiquitous material, shedding light on its multifaceted impact on society and the environment.

Entries will be judged by the judging panel - all shortlist will be revealed later this year and winners will be announced in early 2024.

Submission requirements:

➜ Just upload a photo to Instagram or X (formerly Twitter) of concrete using the hashtag #ConcreteInLife2023.

Who may enter?

Concrete in Life is open to all photographers (or anyone with a camera phone) around the world.

Prize:

The winning photo will receive $10,000 and the remaining category winners will each receive $2,500. To celebrate our 5th year there will be a people’s vote, where the public will vote for their favourite photo from our shortlist. The winner will receive a prize of $5000.
