Fineman New Photography Award 2021: For the second time, the Ballarat International Foto Biennale will launch The Fineman New Photography Award in 2021 that places the focus on photographic artists working throughout the Asia Pacific region, seeking to find those whose work is beginning to receive critical attention and deserves to be seen by international audiences.

Short description

For the second time, the Ballarat International Foto Biennale will launch The Fineman New Photography Award in 2021. This award places the focus on photographic artists working throughout the Asia Pacific region; seeking to find those whose work is beginning to receive critical attention and deserves to be seen by international audiences.

The Fineman New Photography Award is part of the 9th Ballarat International Foto Biennale in Australia.

A selection of up to 6 artists will receive an exhibition within the 2021 Biennale Core Program alongside other finalists, and receive support from BIFB curators in the realisation of their exhibition.

The submitted series must:

Be accompanied by an artistic rationale responding to the 2021 premise of Past. Tense. Now.
Be comprised of 4-20 images
Be a finished project
Have been executed and/or resolved within the year leading up to the deadline for submissions, that is after 1 January 2020
Have not previously been exhibited anywhere in Australia

Who may enter?

The Ballarat International Foto Biennale The Fineman New Photography Award is open to all photographers aged 18 and over, and living in the Asia-Pacific.

Prize:

The winner will receive a cash prize of 10,000 AUD.

All applicants will have their submissions reviewed by an international jury of leading curators and gallery directors.

Entry fees:

Entry fee is 20 AUD.
