International Architectural Competition Space for Contemporary Art and Culture – PARK ZONE 3, Burgas (Bulgaria) : The Municipality of Burgas are excited to announces the launch of the international architecture competition A Space for Contemporary Art and Culture – Park Zone 3.

Short description

The Municipality of Burgas are very excited to announces the launch of the international architecture competition A Space for Contemporary Art and Culture – Park Zone 3, Burgas (Bulgaria) meeting global standards.

The aim of this competition is to transform the colloquially known central “hole” in the heart of Burgas into a vibrant hub for art, culture, and community. The project is a significant step in the development of the urban environment and public spaces in Burgas.

You are invited to think about the place where people and events are woven into a network of inspiration and excitement. A park environment and art, creating a harmonious synthesis with no clear boundaries. An artistic space pulsating with flexibility and freedom, where contemporary creators can express themselves without restrictions.

Entries should propose zones, spaces, and buildings within a green park environment that reflect the unique spirit of Burgas and create adaptable and inclusive places, contributing to the expansion of the cultural and social potential of the city center.

The competition aims to develop an original, innovative, and funzional project for transforming the city center into a contemporary, multidimensional urban space.

The projects should re-think existing challenges and propose bold approaches that will breathe life into the area, turning it into a meaningful, dynamic and inspiring space in the heart of the city.

The competition gives everyone the opportunity to present their creative ideas, tailored to the needs of the community, with the aim of creating a unique place for interaction, communication, and social integration.

The Burgas Municipality will conduct negotiations and conclude a contract for the development of a technical and detailed investment project based on an conceptual design with one of the three participants who ranked first, second, or third.

The maximum estimated value of the design services for planning the future technical and detailed investment project is 450 000 euro, excluding VAT.

The competition projects will be evaluated by a panel of 9 international jury members.

Results will be announced on 16 February 2026.

Who may enter?

The competition is open to all Bulgarian and foreign persons or their associations. There are no restrictive conditions.

Prize:

A total of 110,000 Euro will be awarded to the best 3 projects and 2 honorable mentionsThe 1st prize is 50,000 Euro.

There is no entry fee to participate!
