Neilma Sidney Short Story Prize 2025, organized by Overland, an Australian literary and cultural magazine, has been recently opened for entries inviting all writers, nationally and internationally, at any stage of their writing career to participate.
Short description
Neilma Sidney Short Story Prize 2025, organized by Overland , an Australian literary and cultural magazine, has been recently opened for entries inviting all writers, nationally and internationally, at any stage of their writing career to participate.
Participants are invited to submit original pieces of short fiction written in English, up to 3000 words in length, themed around the notion of ‘travel’ — imaginative, creative and literary interpretations are strongly encouraged.
Submitted stories must be unpublished (including online).
Stories that have won or are under consideration in other competitions are not eligible (including Overland).
Multiple entries are acceptable.
The winning entries will be published in Overland. Other entries may be considered for publication.
Submission requirements:
➜ Stories should be formatted at 1.5 line spacing and a minimum of 12 point font size (unless formally experimental).
Who may enter?
This competition is open to all writers, nationally and internationally, at any stage of their writing career.
Prize:
The winning writer will receive $5000 and their short story will be published in Overland.
Two runners-up will each receive $750.
Entry fees:
Entry fees are $12 for subscribers and $20 for non-subscribers.
