Radical Innovation Award 2019: The Radical Innovation Award 2019, has been recently opened for entries, inviting both professionals and students to discover concepts that have the power to change the hotel industry.

Short description

The annual competition Radical Innovation Award, which challenges designers, architects, hoteliers and students to pioneer compelling ideas in travel and hospitality, is now accepting entries in its 2019 edition. Every year Radical Innovation put out a call for entries welcoming big ideas for the guest experience, from inside and outside of hospitality.

Radical Innovation, a platform promoting disruptive, industry-changing ideas within the hotel space, is looking for new concepts that present opportunities for the hotel guest and the hotel business. With an expanded interest in moving ideas from concepts to reality, organiser is asking participants to submit hospitality concepts that provide not only new meaningful travel experiences for consumers, but also new revenue growth opportunities for owners, investors, operators, contractors and vendors.

Guidelines:

• Enter original, built or unbuilt concepts that offer the market something that is not widely available.
• Concepts must include guestrooms and lobby/public areas.
• Food/ beverage facilities (and other amenities) are optional but recommended.
• Multiple entries by a single entrant (or company) are permitted.
• You must be able to provide a notarized disclosure form and certification of project authenticity if your entry is selected as a finalist.
• Built entries completed 18 months prior to the competition.

In addition to a clear and compelling brief, all entries should be accompanied by design renderings and cost analysis, illustrating how the concept could be achieved in the next 3-5 years.

Everyting need to be entered in a PDF less than 100MB. The PDF must have no names of entrants or companies associated.

Students will be considered alongside professionals. Jury will review all entries and shortlist 10. After 3 finalists will be selected. These finalists will be mentored by the Radical Innovation jury and team, in preparation for the live event in October 2019. Finalists will present their ideas in front of a live audience and the jury. After presentations are heard, the audience will vote and select their favorite concept. Winners will be announced that evening, and will be published across multiple news outlets.

Finalists will be flown to New York City to compete in a live event held in fall 2019, where they will present their ideas, in front of a room of top hospitality, design and business leaders. Audience members vote to determine the Grand Prize Winner.

All concepts will be judged based on design creativity, feasibility, viability, and impact.

Entry fees:

• $550 for professionals - built
• $350 for professionals - unbuilt
• Free for students

The Radical Innovation Award 2019 is open to both professionals and students.
