Short description
The RP Drawing Prize: Revealing the Human, organized by the Royal Society of Portrait Painters, a distinguished British institution dedicated to portraiture, returns for its second year.
This is an opportunity for artists, designers and creatives whose work involves drawing.
This inaugural open call welcomes submissions in all drawing styles and techniques, providing a vibrant platform for bold, original, and thought-provoking work.
The RP is seeking submissions from artists who observe and depict people, in whatever form that happens to be. Organisers are keen to explore and expand the idea of what a portrait can be, and because drawing is such an immediate, direct response to the human, they’re hoping to be surprised by the variety of responses.
Submitted work must have been completed in the last three years. The prize welcomes submissions in all drawing styles and techniques. Works depicting people in any form are eligible. All mediums are welcome as long as the work can be considered a drawing.
Works should not be larger than 1.8m along the longest dimension.
Works must have a minimum sale price of £300. Works may be listed as not for sale – if your work is not for sale, please input the price as ‘0’ when prompted.
A maximum of three works can be submitted for selection. It is possible for all three entries to be selected.
A distinguished panel will select up to 120 works to be exhibited at The University of Hull Art Gallery. Works which feature in the exhibition can be available for sale and the FBA Art Consultancy will be available to manage commission enquiries.
If your work is selected for the second stage, it must be delivered to the University of Hull at your own expense and risk.
