The Unbelievable Challenge 2021: Museum of Snow: Mr. Santa Claus recently has annouced it open architectural ideas competition for architect students and design students, or young professionals from the Schengen countries, inviting them to design a Museum of Snow as a unique, inspiring and innovative solution.

Mr. Santa Claus invites all young architects and designers (in the Schengen countries) to design a Museum of Snow as a unique, inspiring and innovative solution.
Snow back in Mr. Santa Claus’ native North is facing extinction. Santa has decided to fight back. To make his voice heard, he’s building a landmark for it — called the Museum of Snow.
Santa Claus’s goal is to raise awareness about the approaching extinction of snow. He wishes to create an exciting new venue to celebrate and showcase snow as well as snow-related activities. The venue is to be inspired by and fit for the harsh conditions of Mr. Santa’s native North. It introduces modern services and facilities for all audiences – the design should be innovative and inviting to local and global visitors alike.
What’s more, the purpose of the museum’s exhibitions is to act as a catalyst to understanding current environmental challenges that face us today. You’re expected to challenge the way we think about sustainable building as well as architectural design. Ruukki products should to be utilized as part of the overall design.
The submitted proposal is expected to clearly present the idea for the contemporary museum. The innovative character of the museum builidng should be expressed in the exterior architecture. The architectural expression is to be instantly recognisable and unique. You are invited to submit your boldest, most unique idea. Ruukki products should to be utilized as part of the overall design.
The winner will be announced on the 9th of December 2021.

The Unbelievable Challenge is an open architectural ideas competition for architect students and design students, or young professionals in these fields from the Schengen countries: Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Iceland, Italy, Austria, Greece, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Malta, Norway, Portugal, Poland, France, Sweden, Slovakia, Slovenia, Finland, Switzerland, Denmark, Czech, Hungary and Estonia.
➜ Prize:
The winner is awarded a fully paid 6-month internship for one person at the prestigious architecture office WXCA, and architecture workshop in Warsaw, Poland.
Additionally, the jury will award the winning proposal and a minimum of four (4) other proposals with a cash prize of €1,000 each. Honorable mentions may also be given.
