Winchester Poetry Prize 2024 is now open for entries!

Winchester Poetry Prize 2024: Winchester Poetry Prize 2024, international competition has been recently opened for entries, as a part of the Winchester Poetry Festival in England inviting anyone worldwide aged 16 or over to participate.

Short description

Winchester Poetry Prize 2024, international competition is part of the Winchester Poetry Festival in England.

Poets from around the world are welcome to submit poems on any subject and in any form or style.

The longlist will be announced in mid September and the winners will be announced live at a special prize-giving event on Saturday 5 October 2024 at the ARC as a part of the Winchester Poetry Day.

Winning and commended poems will be published in a competition anthology that will be available on the day.

Submission requirements:

Type each individual poem on a separate sheet of A4 paper.
Send 2 copies of each poem.
Poems must be typed, must not be longer than 40 lines (excluding title), must be in English, and must be the entrant's own work. They may not be the translated work of another poet, or a collaborative work.
Poems must not have been published or accepted for publication elsewhere (including online and social media).
Poems must not have been submitted for or won any other poetry competition at time of submission.

Who may enter?

The competition is open to anyone aged 16 or over.

Prize:

The Kathryn Bevis Prize will be awarded for the best poem written by a Hampshire-based poet.

1st Prize: £1,000
2nd Prize: £500
3rd Prize: £250

Winning and commended poems will be published in a competition anthology.

Entry fees:

Entry fees is £6 for first poem and £5 for subsequent poems.
