World Press Photo Contest 2024 now is over!
The World Press Photo Contest, the most prestigious international competition for photojournalism in the world, recently has been opened for entries for 2024 inviting all professional press photographers, photo agencies, newspapers and magazines from anywhere in the world to partecipate.
The annual World Press Photo Contest 2024, the most prestigious international competition for photojournalism in the world once again is open for entries bringing together pictures from all parts of the globe to reflect trends and developments in photojournalism.
The World Press Photo Contest, organised by the esteemed World Press Photo Foundation, stands as an illustrious beacon in the realm of photojournalism and documentary photography. Based in Amsterdam, Netherlands, this non-profit foundation has been celebrating the power of visual storytelling by recognizing outstanding photography that encapsulates global events and issues. With its deep commitment to bringing untold stories to the fore, the contest has become synonymous with photographic excellence and integrity. The World Press Photo Contest rewards photographers for the best single exposure pictures contributing to the past year of visual journalism. Whether entered as singles or stories, these pictures are judged in terms of their accurate, fair, and visually compelling insights about our world.
There are four categories: Singles, Stories, Long-Term Projects and Open Format.
Pictures can be submitted whether or not they have been published.
Entries will be judged in six worldwide regions: Africa, Asia, Europe, North and Central America, South America, and Southeast Asia and Oceania. This strategic regional approach not only highlights local narratives but also enhances the contest’s global perspective, attracting a wide range of entrants and bolstering its international standing in search engines as the preeminent competition for professional photographers.
World Press Photo Contest 2024 is open worldwide to all professional photographers working in the field of photojournalism and/or documentary photography. Team entries of two or more photographers are allowed. Proof of professional status must be provided for each team member.
The 24 regional winners will be awarded, one per categor. Each of the winners will receive 1,000 EUR.
Additionally, four global winners will be selected for the World Press Photo of the Year, the World Press Photo Story of the Year, the World Press Photo Long-Term Project AwardWorld Press Photo Open Format Award, with each receiving an extra €5,000.
Winners’ work will be showcased in an annual traveling exhibition, published on various platforms, included in a yearbook, and winners will be invited to a special winners’ program in Amsterdam, along with a physical award.
