Short description
Verallia this year is hosting the 17th edition of its Design Awards.
Verallia, the world’s 3rd leading manufacturer of glass bottles and jars, designs and manufactures glass packaging that is ever more environmentally friendly, infinitely recyclable, that enhances the value of its contents, preserves food quality and enhances consumer well-being.
Since 2009, Verallia, a global player in glass packaging, has been organizing a design competition that brings together several hundred participants each year.
This competition offers you to imagine an innovative project of bottles or glass jars around a defined theme.
The theme for 2026 is: Glass & Virtues: What if packaging became a wellness ritual in its own right?
This edition celebrates glass as a medium of well-being, care, and consciousness. Designers are invited to imagine glass packaging that highlights natural virtues, functional ingredients, and beneficial consumption rituals. Glass becomes a vessel for products that nurture the body, the mind… and the planet. Here, design serves the living. Soothing textures, organic shapes, nature-inspired colors: these creations should awaken the senses as much as the conscience. Each package becomes a narrative object, inspired by herbariums, apothecary vials, medicinal plants, and more. It tells a story, a source, a virtue. More than a container, a daily companion. As habits evolve, so do formats: micro-doses, infusions, wellness shots, etc. are becoming part of our routines. Glass supports these new rhythms with elegance and responsibility, while enhancing transparency through informative labels about benefits, ingredients, and usage. Glass & Virtues is an invitation to design differently: To think of design as an act of care, a bridge between humanity, nature… and the choices we make as consumers.
The contest includes three categories:
➜ Glass Award — Design a new glass bottle or jar that perfectly embodies the spirit of the “Glass & Virtues” theme. The design must focus exclusively on the shape of the bottle or jar, which should be innovative, functional, and truly unique
➜ Decoration Award — It’s all about graphic expression on the YS Bague Plate bottle. Colors, patterns, finishes: the decoration should reflect the product’s natural virtues and create an elegant, calming visual universe
➜ Special Rémy Cointreau Award — One spirits bottle, designed according to the brief provided by Rémy Cointreau
Participants are invited to imagine a glass bottle that fully exploits the creative possibilities offered by glass as a material.
The winners will be notified after the jury deliberation late May, ahead of the award ceremony, so that Verallia has time to make a realistic model of their projects (made of glass in the best case, or Plexiglass or Pyrex or so). To achieve this model, a 3D plan is necessary. The models’ production is ensured by Verallia design office and its network, with the laureates’ approval.
The award ceremony for the Verallia Design Awards 2026 will take place in the end of June 2023..
