15th Japan International Manga Award 2021 now is over!

15th Japan International Manga Award 2021: The 15th Japan International Manga Award, organised by the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan has been recently opened for entries for 2021 and like every year is especially dedicated to non-Japanese manga artists!

Short description

The 15th Japan International Manga Award now is open for entries and especially dedicated to non-Japanese manga artists! This manga drawing competition aims to award Manga creators who contribute to the spread of Manga culture overseas and international cultural exchange through Manga.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs founded the Japan International Manga Award in 2007 for the purpose of expanding international exchange and mutual understanding through the MANGA culture which is widely accepted around the world.

This award honors the MANGA artists who are contributing to the development of MANGA culture in the world.

Submission requirements:

Eligible manga works need to be composed of more than 16 pages and must be submitted in electronic form (PDF) or printed form.

Both published and unpublished works are eligible, but Manga works should have been produced within three years proceeding the date of application (2018-2021), and must have been produced outside Japan.

Eligible manga works must be submitted in printed form.

Only 1 work may be submitted per applicant. Only one work may be accepted under one title (or series). In case that a collection of short stories is to be applied, only one story will be accepted for examination.

Who may enter?

This competition is open to anyone worldwide. Either the comic artist or story writer of the submitted work has to be a foreign national (non-Japanese).

Prize:

The Gold Award and the Silver Award winners will be invited to Japan to attend the award ceremony. During their stay in Japan (approximately 10 days trip), they will also have the opportunity to exchange ideas with Japanese Manga creators, visit publishing companies and make an excursion to local sites.
