Short description

Anima 2024, the Brussels Animation Film Festival, has opened the call for entries to its selection programmes for the 43rd edition of the festival.

This festival is organized every year and is one of the most important festivals in Europe that seeks to promote animated films from all over the world and encourage dialogue between professionals, filmmakers and the public.

The Festival presents animated films exclusively, namely films created frame by frame (traditional animated cartoons or using puppets, plasticine etc. or digital films), and not shot in live action.

The Festival offers an official selection with national and international competition of short and feature films, as well as an information section (retrospectives, thematic programmes…).

Anima considers all animated films completed 18 months before the beginning of the Festival. Films can be submitted to the following competition categories:

International Professional Short Films
International Student Films
International Short Films for a Young Audience
Feature Films
Feature Films for a Young Audience
National Short Films

There are other non-competitive categories available as well.

The 43rd edition of the Brussels Animation Film Festival will take place 23 February – 03 March, 2024. In addition to attracting professionals from all over the world, Anima is also a popular and family festival that welcomes more than 40,000 festival-goers every year.
