BigPicture Natural World Photography Competition 2021: Presented by California Academy of Sciences, the BigPicture Natural World Photography Competition 2021, is recently opened for entries with the aim to encourages photographers from around the world to contribute their work to this competition that will both celebrate and illustrate the rich diversity of life on Earth and inspire action to protect and conserve it through the power of imagery.

Short description

BigPicture Natural World Photography Competition 2021, now in its eightth year is opened for entries inviting all photographers around the world to participate.

This annual photo competition encourages photographers from around the world to contribute their work to this competition that will both celebrate and illustrate the rich diversity of life on Earth and inspire action to protect and conserve it through the power of imagery. This competition welcomes high-quality nature, wildlife and conservation images.

BigPicture welcomes high-quality nature, wildlife and conservation images.

The objective is to remain faithful to the original experience and to never deceive the viewer or misrepresent the reality of the natural world. Localised adjustments should be used appropriately. Entrants retain ownership and all other rights to submitted photographs.

Submission requirements:

Submitted images must meet the following qualifications:

Submitted as JPG or JPEG files in Adobe RGB
Must be 120 dpi
Images should be a minimum 1920px on the long edge and maximum 3000px

Evaluation Criteria:

Photographs and photo essays will be judged on originality, technical excellence, composition, overall impact and artistic merit.

BigPicture is open to all photography enthusiasts and professionals alike worldwide

Prize:

The Grand Prize winner will receive $5,000 for the best overall image in the 2021 BigPicture Natural World Photography Competition and be featured in the annual exhibit at the California Academy of Sciences. The first place winners of the seven official categories will each receive $1,000 in cash and also have their winning images featured in the annual exhibit. Up to 6 additional finalists will be awarded a certificate of recognition for each category, with the exception of the Photo Story category. The Photo Story category will have one first place awarded.

Entry fees:

Entry fees is $25 for up to 10 image submissions in any category, including Photo Story submissions (4–6 images)
