The BlueCat TV Writing Competition 2026 recently announced for entries, looking for the very best of television writing.
BlueCat has a long and distinguished history of discovering writers, introducing them to the film and television industry and launching their careers. Founded in 1998 by WGA writer Gordy Hoffman, BlueCat continues its mission of developing the undiscovered writer. BlueCat’s winners and finalists have gone on to sign with agencies including ICM, CAA, and WME, with their work sold to several major studios such as Paramount Pictures, Warner Bros., and Universal. BlueCat writers have won awards at Sundance, Berlin, and Tribeca all following their recognition with BlueCat.
All submissions must be original, and the sole property of the applicant(s).
Scripts, including outlines, treatments, pitches, log lines or any developmental material related to the script, that has previously won any contest, competition, grant, lab, fellowship, mentorship, reading or award of any kind, are not eligible.
Every pilot entered will receive their written analysis.
Submission requirements:
➜ All submissions must be in English.
➜ Hour Pilot scripts must be between 45-100 pages.
➜ Half Hour Pilot scripts must be between 1-45 pages.
➜ There is no limit to the number of entries you may submit.
➜ You may submit a script once.
➜ All script entries must be uploaded in PDF format.
Who may enter?
BlueCat Screenplay Competition 2026 is open to all television writers around the world, regardless of age.
Prize:
There will be two winners: Hour Pilot and Half-Hour Pilot. The winners will win $2,000 each and be introduced to over four hundred literary managers and agents. Every writer will receive a written analysis of their pilot.
Entry fees:
Entry fees start from $40 for Half-Hour Pilot and $50 for Hour Pilot, and vary depending on the submission date.
