Lucca Biennale Cartasia 2022: LuBiCa - Lucca Biennale Cartasia 2022, the biggest worldwide art event dedicated to Paper as an artistic and architectural means, this year themed 'The White Page', invites artists from around the world to express their vision by using paper and its by-products.

Short description

LuBiCa - Lucca Biennale Cartasiais is the biggest worldwide art event dedicated to Paper as an artistic and architectural means. LuBiCa takes place every two years in Lucca, Tuscany. Founded in 2004, the event is committed to promoting tradition, culture, sustainability and innovation in art and design, and next year marks XI edition.

This Call for Entries invites artists from around the world to express their vision by using paper and its by-products highlighting the original, bold, unique and innovative use of this material.

The theme of the 2022 edition of the festival is “The White Page”. 'White page' has a double-sided message: could represent endless opportunities and at the same time the anxiety of it all, the possibility of a brighter future and a leap of faith into the unknown, a white page is a bridge between the past and the future. LuBiCa 2022 has two open call for artists:

Outdoor Exhibition – artists that work with cardboard and paper are encouraged to participate in the contest with a challenging and innovative project for a monumental sculpture.

Indoor Exhibition – will be composed of 3 main sectors: art, fashion, and performances. Every artist that creates art such as performances, sculptures, drawings, video-art, and much more with paper, cardboard, or its by-products is encouraged to participate in the call.

The Biennale will exhibit finalists’ works in the main squares of Lucca, Tuscany, during the open event scheduled for 31st July - 25th September, 2022 and at the end of the event the artworks will continue to be exhibited inside the historical wall ramparts, thus becoming part of the Biennale’s permanent collection.
