Short description

The Cresting International Short Film Competition now is opened for entries and calls for circular economy themed and attention grabbing videos to spread socio-environmental awareness.

Practices such as re-use, material recovery, repair, composting, or buying second-hand have been with us from an early age. Yet, it is only recently that they are commonly referred to as ‘circular’. A circular economy is based on the principles of maximising the use of resources, designing out waste and pollution, and regenerating natural systems. By challenging the ‘throwaway culture’, circular economy is seen as an opportunity to benefit people, planet and the profit: to boost economic competitiveness, create new good quality jobs and shared spaces to socialize, and decrease carbon dependency.

Do you have a great example of a circular economy initiative in your neighbourhood, local community, city, company or perhaps household?
The films will be evaluated by a jury consisting of film professionals and CRESTING researchers.

The winner will be announced during the Final Cresting conference, which will be held at the Royal Geographical Society in London (UK) on the 15th of December 2021. The conference will host some of the key circular pioneers.
