➜ Short description
Design X Social is an annual global innovation challenge recently organized by the UMO Design Foundation.
Built on UMO Design Foundation’s philosophy – 'Good design for better living', Design X Social is an annual social innovation challenge that aims to create a positive impact on society by identifying and addressing global social, economic and environmental issues with the design.
Each year organizer invites participants to sign up to solve a social issue and create impact. This year, the theme revolves around Designing for Crisis.
Designing for Crisis
Designing for Crisis Design interventions for an empathetic, sustainable, and delightful citizen experience.
Opportunity to rebuild and heal the world with design.
Can we take inspiration from resilient economies like Japan after the world war or Norway after the Covid pandemic? Can our creative design community design resilient and sustainable systems at an individual, society, and national level? We have an opportunity to design from scratch.
In 2022, the world has faced multiple challenges: inflation and economic and humanitarian crises resulting from conflicts and political chaos. In addition, rising sea levels and changing seasons have affected rural and urban communities, causing tensions over shrinking water supplies and a spike in food prices. As a result, people have been forced to abandon their homes to find security elsewhere.
This competition serves as a platform for thinkers, designers and innovators to showcase ideas that make an impact on individuals, communities and society.
