World Food Photography Awards 2027 is now open for entries!
The World Food Photography Awards 2027 invite photographers worldwide to tell stories about food, from growing and harvesting to cooking and celebration, across more than 25 categories.
Short description
The World Food Photography Awards 2027 are open to amateur and professional photographers from around the world. Now in their 16th edition, the awards celebrate photographs that explore food through documentary, portrait, travel, landscape and other photographic approaches.
Entrants can choose from more than 25 categories covering the many ways food is grown, prepared, sold and shared. A new category for 2027, A Feast of Flowers, explores the relationship between food and flowers and is available for this edition only.
Photographs may have been taken at any time, and previously published images may be eligible, depending on the chosen category. Entrants may submit the same photograph to more than one category if it meets the relevant criteria; each category submission counts as a separate entry.
The Overall Winner will receive £5,000. All finalist images will be exhibited at the Mall Galleries in London, while a selection will also be displayed at Fortnum & Mason. The winner of the Award for Innovation will receive a £1,400 bursary and a four-week residency at the Hugo Burge Foundation.
Entries close on 7 February 2027. The winners will be announced on 18 May 2027.
Submission requirements
➜ Submit photographs online as JPG, JPEG or PNG files, with a maximum of 1,920 pixels on the longest side for the initial entry. Files must have no borders, watermarks, signatures or identifying information in their names. Shortlisted entrants must be able to provide high-resolution files suitable for exhibition printing. Images must originate from a camera capture; generative AI cannot be used to create, replace, extend or materially reconstruct visual elements.
Eligibility
The competition accepts entries from any country. Adult entrants must be at least 18 on the closing date; separate Young categories are available for photographers aged 17 or under. Photographs may have been taken at any time, but an image that has already won the overall title of another photography competition is ineligible. Some categories have additional eligibility rules.
Benefits
£5,000 for the Overall Winner; exhibition of all finalist images at Mall Galleries, London; a selection displayed at Fortnum & Mason; and a £1,400 bursary plus a four-week residency for the Award for Innovation winner.
Entry fees
£35 per adult entrant covers up to six photographic entries; additional entries cost £7 each. The Young and eligible Student categories are free, with up to five entries each. Portfolio categories and certain other categories have separate fees.
