Type Directors Club: 2021 Superscript Scholarship for BIPOC Graphic Design Students now is over!

Type Directors Club: 2021 Superscript Scholarship for BIPOC Graphic Design Students: The TDC 2021 Superscript Scholarship for BIPOC Graphic Design Students has been recently sponsored by Monotype and recognizes BIPOC students studying type design at a college or university in the United States.

Short description

The Type Directors Club is now calling for entries for its two annual scholarship programs that recognize excellence in female-identifying and BIPOC students.

Now in its second year, the TDC Superscript Scholarship recognizes BIPOC students studying type design at a US college or university. The 5,000 USD scholarship is awarded to an outstanding student currently in their junior year of college or first year of graduate or postgraduate school who demonstrates exceptional talent and promise in the design and creation of letterforms (typeface, lettering or calligraphy).

This scholarship is awarded to foster an understanding and appreciation of the significance of type and typography in the next generation of designers. The scholarship will be applied to the selected student’s final-year tuition that begins in September 2021 and concludes in June 2022.

The Type Directors Club sets the standards of typographical excellence in advertising, design and publishing, and hopes that the scholarship will encourage talented students to develop a love for typography and an appreciation of the significance of typography in the design process.
