Competition Details
The FIO Bird Illustration Competition 2027 is organised by the Dirección General de Turismo de la Junta de Extremadura for the 22nd Extremadura Birdwatching Fair in Spain, connecting artistic practice with ornithological knowledge.
The theme is “Birds”, with four categories:
➜ F1 - Scientific Illustration - educational depictions explaining birds.
➜ F2 - Naturalist Illustration - birds observed in their environment.
➜ F3 - Conceptual Illustration - imaginative interpretations.
➜ F4 - Young Illustrators - ages 12-18; entrants under 18 may enter only F4.
An anonymous jury considers scientific accuracy where relevant, artistic quality, originality and conservation; organisers, sponsors and associated companies cannot enter.
Copyright remains with artists, while winning works may be reproduced with attribution for non-profit competition promotion; selected works may join permanent or travelling exhibitions.
